Abstract

This paper intends to propose a brief reflection centred on the territory of Matera, winner of the qualification of European Capital of Culture for 2019. The objective of the research, which is part of a broader study, will be to highlight some reflections on the management of the Mega Event and then to identify a very precise manifestation: the qualification of European Capital of Culture, proposing a possible geographic reading on selected parts of the files of the city qualified for the 2019, highlighting the critical points, peculiarities and characteristics that led Matera to undertake this path in the perspective of a real Cultural enhancement, identity, innovation, territorial, tourism.
