Violencia contra las mujeres en el Dietari de Jeroni Sòria (1503-1559)
Abstract
The significant and extensive document known by the title of Dietari de Jeroni Sòria collects all kinds of news of a public and private nature relating to the first half of the Valencian 16th century (and, more specifically, to the years 1503-1559). In this way, the study identifies and analyzes the cases of violence against women that the text offers. We continue here to delve into the profile of the patriarchal society that presided over the modern age (and that we had already begun with the study of the diaries of Pere Joan Porcar and Joaquim Aierdi), a time in which women, who only enjoyed a very secondary leading role in society, became propitiatory victims of structural violence.
