Traces du film noir dans Lolita, Stanley Kubrick, 1962
Abstract
By looking at the influence film noir has exerted upon Kubrick’s Lolita, this article strives to show that Kubrick has undermined the generic conventions of film noir as well as of other film genres, in a devious attempt to displace the subversive aspects of Nabokov’s novel. Although the film complies with Hollywood’s censorship regulations, it still manages to express very well the malaise into which the reader of the novel plunges.
