Problem. Existing methods of determining the theoretical vehicle acceleration time to a predetermined speed is complex and is only symbolic. As a result, the theory of the car can neither confirm nor disprove the numerical values of the acceleration time of real cars provided by manufacturers. Goal. The aim of the work is to build the calculation relationships that describe the most basic characteristics of the process of dispersal of the car «in general». Methodology. It is achieved by considering the acceleration process of the vehicle to the energy field when abstracting the maximum possible number of minor factors. As a starting point, it was assumed that the measure of the useful effect when dispersing a car on a horizontal road is its kinetic energy. Dispersal was considered as a process of «pumping» the car with kinetic energy, into which some of the mechanical work performed by the engine is converted. Results, originality, practical value. Due to this, extremely simple ratios are obtained that characterize the most common regularities of the process of dispersal of a car. It was established that for evaluating the energy efficiency of cars during acceleration are necessary and sufficient value in all four key variables – the specified speed, acceleration time to it, the nominal engine power and vehicle weight. It was established that the vehicle is in acceleration up to the set speed is directly proportional to a function of the specific weight of the car. This allows us to abandon the now more complicated representation of the acceleration time in the form of a hyperbolic function of the specific power of the car. The average values of the energy cyclic efficiency at the acceleration of a number of cars and trucks are determined. They make it possible to assess the accuracy of the values of the time of acceleration of vehicles, provided by the manufacturer. The results obtained are valid for any vehicle whose inertial force (in its forward motion) is dominant in comparison with other forces opposing acceleration.
