doi: 10.12957/geouerj.2016.15110 This paper uses GIS techniques and digital analysis to determine the landforms that occur in the Hydrographic Basin of the river Ibicuí (BHRI), major watercourse of the west of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), with an area of 46602.58 km². The morphometric analysis was performed from a digital elevation model built using vectors on the scale 1:50000 and radar images (SRTM – Shuttle Radar Topography Mission). Classification and characterization of different units was conducted from data on hypsometric and slope, amplitude, profile and plan curvature. The units were divided into: flat areas; gentle hills; isolated buttes; hills; lineament of the buttes and hillocks and altitude hills.
