We analyse, in this article, Nocturno de Chile (2000), by the Chilean novelist Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003), on the basis of the visual form of the story. The extensive production of this writer has an undeniable imagery-centred character that we address from its correlation with the production forms of the theater and the cinema. The hypothesis is that the inter-arts dialogue offers us a new way of approaching his work and, especially, the novel that we address in this study. The images in Nocturno de Chile circulate between the end of democracy and the dictatorship of Pinochet through the delirium of a dying man who reviews his emotional literary life in response to an intellectual attack.
