Most of the literary works in Tamil focuses on Saivam, out of these ‘Panniru Thirumuraigal’ & ‘Saivam Principles’ are noteworthy. Prof. Na. Subbu Reddiar presents his literature in a simple language with clarity. This article highlights Subbu Reddiar’s literary contribution to Saivam, "Saivamum Tamilum" – presents an overall view on Saivam. Professor has expressed the historic heritage of Saivam through his quotes which explicits that Professor has a splendid command over Tamil. He has also listed a catalogue of books- titled with the creators and their biography, that describes the greatness of ‘Panniru Thirumuraigal’, mythological literature etc. The book “Moovar Thevaram Pudhiya Parvai” – First chapter describes the history and origin of “Panniru Thirumuraigal”. Subbu Reddiar has quoted from “Thevaram” sung by Appar, Sambandhar and Sundharar - a few verses which highlights the significance, affectations and its effects. In the second part entitled ‘Pansumandha Thevara Padalgal’, Professor has presented a new perspective & deeply analysed the poetical structure which is evident that he has a strong knowledge in music too. In ‘Saivasithandham Oru Arimugam’, professor has clearly explained the principles and philosophy in a simple language. The philosophy of Saivam is known as Saivasithandham and the principles – ‘Padhi’, ‘Pasu’ and ‘Paasam’ are elaborated. “Saiva Samaya Vilakku” also bestows Saivasithandham hymns in simple style which is portayed as an elderly person composing a letter to a youth about the meaning of ‘Padhi, Pasu and Paasam’. Sadhanaiiyal, Payiraviyal and Vazhipatiyal elaborate on Saivam and the methods of worship.
