Genetic glioblastoma and new treatment approaches: literature review
Abstract
Glioblastomas are among the neural cancers with the highest incidences worldwide. Their genotypic and phenotypic characteristics allow different actions that make most of the treatments be ineffective. This literature review aims at understanding the glioblastoma genetics and new therapeutic approaches with positive results. The used databases were the following electronic journals: LILACS, SciELO, NCBI and CAPES, considering the publications between 2010 and 2016. This literature shows that the different actions of migration and cancer recurrence interfere in conventional treatments. The studies report a new therapeutic approach using oncotic adenovirus to quantify tumor coverage area and suppress the human glioblastoma growth by increasing the percentage of an effective treatment that may leads to this disease's healing.
