A total of 87 articles were analyzed through the databases of the Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), the Bibliographic Database Specialized in the Nursing Area (BDENF) and the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The following descriptors were used in search of the articles in the Portuguese language: Chemical dependents, chemical dependency, family relations, dialogue, drugs, adolescents. The guiding question of the research was: What are the difficulties between the relative and the dependent of psychoactive substances? It consisted in a bibliographical research where the systematics used to obtain the data occurred through reading and studying the texts, making possible the analysis of the subject in question. In this way, we will contribute and promote a greater understanding between family members and their families, to get out of the suffering, being this, the family, the natural context of growth and also healing where the improvement of relationship must take place. The suffering of dependency affects not only the dependent but also their family, often emotionally hurting them, and it is essential that they are treated, given guidelines on how to deal with the sufferer's feelings and stay strong. Being conniving with their dependents will need to have the knowledge to guide their risks, and with that they are likely to be helping them get rid of the addiction.
