The original version of the article, “Improvement Science as a Frame for the Dissertation in Practice: The Johns Hopkins Experience”, published on 25 January 2022 included references to Casey Handfield, a former doctoral student at Johns Hopkins University. All references to Mr. Handfield have been removed from the article and the associated dissertation has been subsequently withdrawn. The authors and editorial team regret the inclusion of this material in the original article which has been retracted and updated with an edited version. The full article has not been retracted because the editorial team believes that the problematic references did not impact the overall utility and conclusions of the article.
