Abstract

In 2011, under the coordination of the European Society of Radiology (ESR) all European national radiological societies decided to celebrate the anniversary of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen’s death who first discovered x-rays in 1895. The role of radiology as a diagnostic and interventional procedure in medicine is undeniable, but its perception among the general public and among colleagues performing in other clinical disciplines still needs to be clarified.
