Risk factors predisposing teenage pregnancy
Abstract
Introduction: teenage pregnancy represents a conflict at a universal level and Cuba is not exempt from this reality. Objective: to determine the risk factors that predispose teenage pregnancy. Methods: a descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in pregnant adolescents who belonged to the medical office of family 8 of Policlinic 3 “René Vallejo Ortiz” in the period from January to June 2022. From a universe of 33 teenage pregnant women, a sample of 24 was selected through intentional non-probabilistic sampling. Variables such as individual, family, socio-economic, cultural and psychological risk factors were studied. Results: among the most prevalent risk factors was found; in individuals the difficulty to plan the future life project with 75%; in relatives the lack of communication from the family (83. 3%), in socio-economic groups the low per capita household (75%), the low level of culture and psychologically the need to test fertility (79. 2% and 50% respectively). Conclusions: teenage pregnancy is a serious problem both nationally and internationally. Several factors predispose to an increase in the incidence of teenage pregnancies, including difficulty in planning future life plans; poor communication from the family; low per capita family; low cultural level; and the need to test fertility.
