We analyze the inequalities and limitations in integrating digital technologies (DT) in the schools of two Latin American countries: Colombia and Mexico. We aim to provide insights into the problems that our two countries face in relation to the access and use of DT with particular reference to mathematics education. In both countries, mirroring the socio-economic inequalities of our societies, there are limitations in access and use of DT in public schools at all levels, which contrast with the situations of more developed countries. These gaps collide with the urgent needs of millions of students in these two countries.
