: To appraise Compared Literature is not an easy task, but to understand what it includes is essential to recognize the area that it includes. The present paper has as a goal to considerate the idea of Compared Literature and its purposes. To develop this reasoning in this research ,the theories of Carvalhal, Pageaux, Coutinho and Jauss were regarded. Taking these considerations into account an analysis between the Brazilian book Amar, verbo intransitivo, by Mrio de Andrade and the film Lio de Amor, by Eduardo Escorel, highlighted the unique way in which the intersemiotic transposition was used, exemplifying, this way, the intertextual approach, one of the areas within the Compared Literature field.
