Abstract. This paper analyzes the situation of the journalism after the return of Fernando VII on May of 1814 and the persecution directed to some editors and journalists. The study is based on the documents stored in the National Historic Archive (Madrid, Spain) contained in the Comisión de Causas de Estado (State Lawsuit Commission), and concretely, the file related to El Redactor General (15-VI-1811/18-V-1814), which informs about the not found litigations against Abeja Española (12-IX-1812/31-VIII-1813) and El Duende de los Cafés (1-VIII-1813/14-V-1814).
