The report presented below aimed to discuss the characteristics of a group intervention, addressed to residents of a Therapeutic Residential Service type I. The employee intervention method was Fotolanguage group. Thirteen fortnightly meetings attended by the eight residents of the Therapeutic Residential Services were held. The meetings took place in the space of their own homes with fixed place and time, with free participation of residents in the actions of Fotolanguage group. The results indicated that the components of the group experienced some level of the break-subjectal position. The Fotolanguage group has enabled the historicizing of life of participants and contributes to that a shared psychic space could emerge among the inhabitants of Therapeutic Residence. The external object formed by photo stimulated a transitional experience and appears to have been extended by using abstract images. We conclude that the Fotolanguage group is an important device to support the deinstitutionalization process carried out by the Residential Therapeutic Services
