Secondary Education in the Western Sahara (for saharawi children between 13 and 17 years old) has been traditionally implemented in foreign countries during the conflict, mainly in the so called ‘friend countries’ Algeria, Libya and Cuba. Nowadays, these countries have reduced their capacity to help these students so the Sahrawi authorities are looking for new solutions. They have created two Secondary schools in the refugee camps and are trying to train their own teachers with the cooperation offered by the public universities in Madrid. These universities are carrying out a project based on six different modules. Three of them include general contents on Pedagogy, Psychology and Practicum. Then, one specific module for each branch (two branches will be offered) and finally, a module to reinforce and deal in depth with the studied area and its practical application.
