Piano Culture: Experience of Conceptualization

The aim of the paper is to develop the terminology apparatus of musicology and clarify the content of the concept of “piano culture” taking into account innovative cultural processes. Research methodology. The research methods are determined by the need to achieve the goal, which actualized the use of the systematization method, with the help of which the characteristic features in the interpretation of the concept of “piano culture” were determined; the description method, due to the analysis of the content of the basic concepts; the principle of historicism, analysis and synthesis; as well as the hermeneutic research method. Results. At the present stage of the development of the theory of music art, one of the most urgent research tasks is to study and systematize the existing interpretations of the concept of piano culture containing promising heuristic potential. Existing definitions of “piano culture” do not reflect those trends that are occurring at the present stage of the development of music art, and therefore need rethinking. Novelty. The systematization of the existing definitions of “piano culture” revealed that at the present stage of development of music art, interpretation of the concept requires rethinking and restructuring. The practical significance of this study is that the study, analysis and systematization of the already known definitions of “piano culture”, as a result, will contribute to a fuller and deeper knowledge of piano culture and will adequately assess the real status and prospects of the development of music culture of society.
