Security constrained economic load dispatch in the presence of interline power flow controller using modified BAT algorithm
Abstract
The utilization of electrical energy due to urbanization and industrialization is increasing day by day, and due to this, there is chance of increasing the uncertainties in a given power system and that affects the economy of the country. The conventional power system in the presence of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) controllers is an alternative to solve this problem and can increase the power system capability to handle rapid changes in operating conditions of the system. In general, multi-line FACTS controllers are effective than single line FACTS controllers. In this paper, a detailed mathematical modeling of IPFC is presented and the effect of an optimal location is also analyzed. A novel optimization algorithm i.e. modified BAT algorithm is proposed to solve optimal power flow problem in the presence of IPFC including system constraints and device limits. The proposed methodology has been tested on standard test systems.
