New data on distribution of Eumaeini hairstreaks (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae: Theclinae) in Iran
Abstract
Three new faunistic records of Eumaeini hairstreaks were made in Iran as a result of field studies in 2014–2015. Satyrium (Nordmannia) myrtale (Klug, 1834) is reported from Iran for the first time, the new population is represented by the subspecies armena Rebel, 1901 previously known from several localities in Eastern Turkey. It was found in the province of West Azerbaijan (northwest of Iran) near the border with Turkey (Hakkari Province) in the Iranian part of the mountain range Сilo- Sat. Specimens were collected near a probable host plant Malus sp. at mid altitudes in the end of June. Satyrium (Armenia) ledereri is reported from Mazandaran Province for the first time, moreover it is the first finding of the species within the Alborz Mts. Callophrys paulae kolak Higgins, 1965 is reported from the province of West Azerbaijan for the first time.
