Qualidade de vida e sintomas depressivos de pacientes com câncer submetidos à quimioterapia ambulatorial

Objective: To know the quality of life and the presence of depressive symptoms in cancer patients undergoing ambulatory chemotherapy at a general hospital in Vale do Paraíba Paulista. Method: Cross-sectional study, carried out in an ambulatory clinic for general cancer patients in the year 2016. Inclusion criteria were being 18 to 60 years old, being undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy, having a Karnofsky Performance Status score greater than or equal to 70 and being present on the days of data collection (sociodemographic and clinical form), MD Anderson Symptom Inventory core questionnaire and Beck’s Depression Inventory. Data analysis by SAS version 9.2. Ethical opinion under protocol number 2,276,234. Results: Depressive symptoms did not appear frequently in the participants, and the symptoms caused by cancer and treatment were less intense and had a low impact on daily activities. Conclusion: Despite the presence of cancer and antineoplastic chemotherapy, the participants had a good quality of life and depressive symptoms were not frequent.
