Multimedia materials, an alternative to improve the quality of education abstract
Abstract
<p Quality is a cross-cutting issue of the educational System, having observed non-predse indicators of the students’ deterioration, such as: mass classes, the lack of will and the low academic performance. Trying to give valid answers to the referred situation, we have done this work the aim of which is to analyze the impact that the use of multimedia material, specially educational videos, as a teaching resource based on ICT has on college teaching. The study took was done using a stratified sample made up of 236 students of First Year, with an average age of 19 years oíd, and a standard deviation of 1.5. The research responds initially to a quasi experimental, explanatory and descriptive design of a cross-sectional cut. The first stage is related to the theoretical analysis, and the second one to the empirical study, where the discussion and the drawing up of conclusions will be done. Besides the development and the qualitative validation of the applied ad hoc questionnaires, among the results expected to achieve are the individualization of factors associated to teaching practices which affect the students’ academic performance, and also, the evaluation of educational videos as a resource of equal or superior efficiency to the traditional teaching approach.
