Interest rates charged on the sale of home appliances in the Alagoas, a case study / Taxas de juros praticadas na comercialização de eletrodomésticos no agreste alagoano, um estudo de caso

This article focuses on performing research through a case study, the comparison between the announced interest rates and used in the retail trade of cities of Arapiraca ( AL ) and Palmeira dos Índios ( AL ), situated in the Agreste region of the state Alagoas, in the light of Total Cost Effective definition and guidelines of the Consumer Protection Code. Three large service companies were selected in the Northeast, and the data relating to loans collected in two stores, one in each city, each chosen company, a total of six cases. The results indicate that, among other things, interest rates practiced in the region are well above the advertised interest rate, and the existence of Credit Opening rate in credit sales, revealing thus be at odds with the law current. Comments and suggestions for further research are described at the end of the article.
