English colonialism not only had a well-documented influence on the colonized regions, but also widely effected the mother country England itself. This paper reflects these effects by looking closely on the examples of London and Liverpool between 1607 and 1776: A complex system of division of work is recognized between London as a financial and governing center and the highly industrializing harbor Liverpool.
