The 18th and 19th Centuries witnessed the birth of a Spanish architecture historiography that is in tight connection with the existence of an architectural imaginary –though this has not always been taken into account. The technique of engraving was an essential tool for the transmission of images and knowledge before the invention and popularization of photography. This transmission becomes particularly important in the field of architecture, which due to its nature is inherent to the space it is located in. Therefore, in this paper we will study what kind of images were reproduced, and specially which constructions were chosen to be spread, in order to get an approach to the visual memory of Spanish architecture during the Modern Age, which was at the base of the mentioned historiography.
