Role of Sugarcane in the Brazilian Energetic Matrix

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the role of sugarcane industry as an energy supplier in the Brazilian matrix. The increasing global demand for renewable and less polluting energy sources makes sugar cane derived a very attractive alternative for clean energy production. Accordingly, this paper seeks to check the current participation of sugarcane in the total energy matrix and identify its possibilities, limitations and its positive and negative sights.
