Rôle et trajectoires des producteurs du roman porno Nikkatsu
Abstract
When the studio system collapsed during the 1970s, Nikkatsu, Japan’s oldest major film studio, decided to switch to the quasi-exclusive mass production of low-budget erotic films. In order to keep its business from bankruptcy and save jobs, it launched its Nikkatsu roman porno label, which operated from 1971 to 1988. By going back to the origins of its production mode and based on a series of interviews that constitute the raw material of this research, this article highlights the producers and their career paths, shedding new light on their role and contribution to Japanese cinema of the 1980s and after.
