Comparative construction and/or construction of manner from Vuk S. Karadžic to the present

Abstract

The paper will deal with terminology, (sub) types and the use of comparative and methodical sentences (and constructions) in the past two centuries, from Vuk's first grammar (1814) through the Serbian Dictionaries by Vuk S. Karadžić (I - 1818; II - 1852) to the present. The aim is to see the beginnings of these types of dependent sentences, terminology and classification in the XIX and XX centuries, insight into the selection of relevant syntactical literature: textbooks, grammar and articles in the last hundred years. Special attention will be devoted to the classification, solutions and concrete use of comparative construction and / or construction of manner in the preface of Vuk`s Dictionary in order to determine their scope and nature which would be one of the indicators of the relevance of comparative construction and construction of manner as special and often irreplaceable types of sentences
