Based on the example of the Occitan writer Jean Boudou/ Joan Bodon, we propose to reflect on the problems of graphic choice raised by the transition from manuscript to edition. Indeed, the Occitan does not have the instrument for the regulation and standardization of official languages and writers very often find themselves in a situation of insecurity regarding the transition to written language. Therefore, should any intervention by publishers on the manuscripts they are responsible for be condemned? To which degree should the author be allowed in terms of graphic choice? What is wrong and what can be considered as intentional? The case of Boudou is interesting in particular because he was passionate about these issues of transition to writing in a context of multiple graphic choices. This article is based in particular on correspondence and the observation of two manuscripts of the same work published 10 years after one another's publication.
