Abstract
The aim of this study is to present the results of the entry clinical dental examination focused on dental status and caries experience of pre-school children attending kindergartens in Prague and Hradec Králové. The total number of 300 children aged 3 - 4 years has been examined. Selection criteria were no systemic disease of child and informed consent of parents. Following parameters were calculated: % caries free, dt, dmft, ri, sci and presence of dental plaque on upper incisors. The proportion of 57.10 % of children had intact primary dentition. The % of children with treated dentition was 3.65 and 39.25 % of children had one or more untreated decayed teeth. The mean count of dmft was 1.75 (1.96 dmft in boys and 1.63 dmft in girls). Significant caries index (sci) was 5.96 ( 6.50 in boys and 5.72 in girls). Restorative index (ri) amounted to 17.30 %. Detectable amount of plaque on upper incisors has been found in 61.95% of children.
