T. Shevchenko in the Researches of Scholars of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 1945

The article presents the reconstruction of the development of Shevchenko studies in a leading scientific institution - the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 1945, based on the analysis of the documentary resources of the Archive Fund of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as well as scientific materials, was carried out. In the process of research the most informative documents of the T. G. Shevchenko Institute of Literature (Fund 251, Inventory 11), Potebnya Institute of Linguistics (Fund 251, Inventory 11) and M. T. Rylskyi Institute of Art Studies, Folkloristics and Ethnology (Fund 251, Inventory 11), resolutions of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (Fund 251, Inventory 1) on honoring the memory of T. Shevchenko, as well as media publications of that time. The high level of information representative ness of the reporting documents made it possible to outline the historical cross section of the development of Shevchenko’s studies, which testifies to the scholars’ intensive work in various research fields during this period. The main thematic spectrum of the developed Shevchenko issues is highlighted - literary, textology, biography, ethnography and art history, bibliography. A special place belonged to the coverage of patriotic themes in the works and the global significance of T. Shevchenko’s work. The work of scholars in preparation for the publication of volumes III-VI of the academic complete edition of the works of T. Shevchenko, their research of the epistolary, the principles of scientific description of autographs, the development of a scientific biography were noted. The article reviews the proposals for the return of the T. Shevchenko State Museum to the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, scholars’ participation in solemn events within the framework of the annual commemorations of T. Shevchenko’s anniversary and in popularizing the poet’s work among the public by giving lectures and reports in hospitals, institutions and universities. Special stress is on the difficulties of carrying out scientific work in the post-war circumstances and publishing already prepared works on T. Shevchenko because of the destruction of Ukrainian printing.
