For the first time, a numerical study of the effect of vascular elasticity on blood flow was carried out in a model of the abdominal aorta bifurcation with iliac arteries of average statistical geometry. It was shown that the greatest effect of elasticity is observed in the abdominal aorta before bifurcation where oval transverse section takes the form of a circle. Taking into account the elasticity of the walls, the flow structure does not change. But the maximum flow rate in the abdominal aorta increases by 40%. In the area of the abdominal aorta bifurcation the cycle-averaged shear stresses decrease by 20%, and the shear stress oscillation index increases by 60%.
