Abstract

One of the most notable features of Jorge Luis Borges’ narrative is the peculiar use he makes of the theme of the double, specifically, in the plots and in the imaginary of his tales. Textual elements contribute to this, which are arranged and structured in semantic and syntactic trajectories that evidence the narrative skill of Jorge Luis Borges, as well as constituting a stylistic constant in the aforementioned author. This article analyzes the isotopy of the duplicated in three stories by the author—“Pierre Menard, autor del Quijote,” “Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius,” and “El Inmortal”—.
