Myths collect the cultural heritage of a civilization. At the basis of the western thinking there are some myths of Indo-European origin – more precisely of Greek origin – that came to us depicting and answering at the same time the existential questions of mankind. From this viewpoint it is therefore possible to reread also the trauma – a human experience which is common to all the societies – in the light of Greek myths which narrate the deeds of heroes and divinities, producing in the listener a cathartic and liberating emotional involvement, which brings sense in the reign of imponderable things. Perseus, Orpheus, Sisyphus, the Platonic Er, are some characters of myths which allow us to better reread the trauma experience.
