Abstract

This paper aims a reading of L’École des indifférents, one of Giraudoux’s most outstanding novels, defining it as a modernist’slyrical novel. For this purpose it will first draw the concept of lyrical novel, paying attention to the birth of this narrative genreand its later development. Afterwards, it will show the features of this genre in the novel, pointing out the traits of Giraudoux’swriting; in whose delicate style, full of poetical resources, stamps the boldness of his work.
