This article sheds light on the temporal and corporal maladjustments occurring among the institutional, individual and collective formats for codifying the age of young exiles identified as “unaccompanied minors” (UM), and who subsequently come to be accompanied by the Youth Welfare Office (YWO). This category of public action is the subject of a normative work focusing on the figure of the child in danger, a victim to be protected. It is carried out in situ and cannot be understood independently of the objects, qualifications and practices by means of which it is co-produced. The issue is thus to study the local arrangements mobilized by the young exiles together with administrative, juridical and associative actors for limiting the (adult/child) statutory contradictions which appear over the course of sequences of examinations and educational accompaniment by the (YWO).
