Fumetto et fascisme : la naissance de la bande dessinée italienne

The comic-inspired American arrives in Europe in the 30s. Those new illustrated work transform edition for youth. Parallel to the importation of U.S. comics, a specific production emerge in each country. The fumetto is born in 1932 with the title of editor Lotario Vecchi, Jumbo. Other titles like Topolino published by Arnoldo Mondadori, The Avventuroso by Nerbini. The fumetto is a great success with young readers, but it is quickly under the pressure of censorship fascist. The content of comic faces political and educational requisits, like all italian media. The state assigns a mission of indoctrination. These magazines follow without much hesitation codes fascists and American strips are retouched. Publishers can maintain a relative freedom of publication until the late 30s.
