The investigation of influences of different pollination treatments on fruit yield and quality in kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa cv. Hayward)
Abstract
Different pollination techniques were applied to improve fruit quality in kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa cv. Hayward) in the province of Yalova. Open pollination was considered as the control, and additional pollination experiments are conducted. Experiments except for control; were open pollination + hand pollination (AT+ET), open pollination + artificial pollination (AT+ST), pollination using honeybee area covered by bee–veil (AKABAT), and pollination using bumblebee area covered by bee–veil (AKABOAT). Results indicate that the effects of additional pollination applications on fruit quality were important, and AKABOAT gives the best results with regard to fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit length and number of seed. In terms of yield, AT+ST and AKABOAT applications were found to be superior.
