Abstract

In the title compound, [Mg(C16H17FN3O3)2(H2O)2]·6H2O, the Mg2+ ion (site symmetry overline{1}) exhibits a distorted MgO6 octahedral geometry defined by two O,O-bidentate 1-ethyl-6-fluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-7-(1-piperazinyl)-3-quinoline-carboxylate (norf) anions and two water molecules. In the crystal, O—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds help to establish the packing.
