In the inequality of human race, the dominant male group discriminate women based on sex, social and economic factors. In the twenty first century, there are many records that has been written and debated on marginalized women. In this way, the present paper explains the position of marginalized women characters and their social position of marginalized women characters and their social position in S.Ramakrishnan’s novel, “Thuyil”. Literature is a social phenomenon and it plays an important role in shaping, directing, transforming and innovate the society into a better one once befor it was. Contemporary Tamil novels present the impressions of marginalized people in the society. The unbalanced populations of the people who are socially and economically excluded by the majority society are known as marginalized people. Women exist in such a state under patriarchy. It can be seen that the biographies of marginalized women, who are included in the category of marginalized people, are the research point of many academic scholars of this century. In that way S. Ramakrishnan’s novel, “Thuyil”portrays the pathetic state of women who suffer for livelihood under male hegemony. It seems an eye opener for the emerging pan society that want to give equality to women in every niche walk of life. Hence, this essay describes the social position of marginalized women in Ramakrishnan's novel.
