Mapping of Soil Aptitude for Land Use through the Multi-Criteria Analysis Technique in a GIS Environment: Case Study of the Municipality of Conde-PB, Brazil

The objective of this project was to study soil aptitude and land use capability maps in the municipality of Conde, Paraíba State, Brazil. This study was done through the creation and structuring of a database, using GIS techniques. The SPRING 5.1.7 software was used to prepare the cartographic material and gather quantitative data form the zone. The maps produced were the following: soils, use and occupation, slope, land use capability, and soil aptitude. It was found that most of the municipality of Conde features a high degree of land use according to soil aptitude. The total area with this characteristic is 103.3 km².
