RESULTATIVES AND DIATESIS (ON THE MATERIAL OF UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE)

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the essence of diathesis oppositions when logical accents are shifted from the sphere of word morphology to the sphere of semantics and syntax of the verbal sentence, to isolating and describing the object, subject, bi-diathesis and posessive diathesis types of resultative constructions in the Ukrainian language. The object of study was the category of the resultative of the Ukrainian language, the subject - diathesis types of resultative constructions of the Ukrainian language. Ukrainian subjective resultative only realize resultative results. Resultative constructions of the object diathesis type in the Ukrainian language function together with stativ constructs. The differentiation of both types depends on a number of grammatical conditions. The diathesis type is neutral here. The application of resultative constructions within the object type is due to 1) the lexical meaning of the original verb, 2) the lexical environment of the resultative, as well as its 3) position in the structure of the text. Posessive diathesis type of Ukrainian resultative constructions, like the object, does not affect the nature of the design, because it includes both the statal and the active species. The solution of theoretical and practical problems in the resultative category is important not only for a comprehensive explanation of the verb's characteristics, but also for describing the general structure of the language, the lexical composition of the language, and elucidating the dynamics of language development, is a prerequisite for the creation of fundamental descriptive and category-functional grammars.
