The Effect Of Calender Temperature And Number Of Fabric Layers On Fabric Performans In Combining Nonwovens With Calender Method
Abstract
In the nonwoven fabric industry, fiber based gauze layers are combined with mechanical, heat and chemical methods and turned into textile surface according to the desired properties. Using heat bonding methods instead of using tissue binding with chemicals has been started to be preferred for the awareness of environmental protection. This method has been drawing more attention in terms of high production speed, better physical properties (tensile and tear strength) and environmentally friendly production in the texture bonding method by heat formation (calender). Nonwoven fabric manufacturers are constantly trying to increase production speed and improve performance, such as higher power, less weight or high expandability for the same power. In order to increase production speed, the calender cylinder temperature is increased so that more heat is absorbed in less time. Temperature and pressure applied to nonwoven fabrics directly affect the strength of fabrics. In this study, tear strength, tensile strength and water resistance values of the spunbond fabrics obtained as a result of the degradation caused by thermal bonding on different calender temperatures were compared. As a result of the experimental study, both the nonwoven producers and their consumers have been guided about the effect of temperature values on the fabric physical properties in joining with the calender method.
