EXPANSION OF THE COMMON LANGUAGE DUE TO THE PROFESSIONAL VOCABULARY

The extension of the common vocabulary at the expense of the professional words is a result of the technological processes currently occurring. Merger the different kinds of people’s activities can’t but reflect on the language. Purpose. This article presents the results of the migration process of special words in non-special register. The distinctive characteristic of this period is the processes of despeciasization and determinologization. The first one is presented by the transition of the special words into common vocabulary without losing their meaning. The second one is connected with the acquisition of the new meaning by the terms during the migration process. The new determining terms are words with metaphorization, phraseologization, slengization and tabuization of meaning. Methodology. The research was based on lexical-semantic component analysis; method of dictionary definitions analysis; discursive-contextual analysis; descriptive methods. Results. It was found out that the distinctive characteristic of this period is the processes of despeciasization and determinologization. The first one is presented by the transition of the special words into common vocabulary without losing their meaning. The second one is connected with the acquisition of the new meaning by the terms during the migration process. The new determining terms are words with metaphorization, phraseologization, slengization and tabuization of meaning. The process of despeciasization is wider in both languages. The process of determinologization is not similar in English and Russian. Russian language is filled up with the special words changed by metaphorization and slengization while in English the most common processes are the processes of term migration with not only metaphorization, but with tabuization of meaning. Practical implications. The results of this work can be applied in the courses of terminology, lexicology, sociolinguistics and lexicography.
