Climate change is considered the most serious problem facing the planet, nowadays. The worldwide fossil fuel depletion and its environmental negative impact can be considered the main challenge in solving the environmental health crisis. So, the seeking of eco-friendly technology is considered the most promising technique to produce sustainable energy. Using hydrogen as a renewable energy source is the trendiest option from an economic, environmental, and social point of view. The scope target for sustainable production of energy is defined; however, there are numerous negotiations regarding the technology used in this promising application. The mechanisms of production of hydrogen using biological technology are poorly concrete from an economic point of view. Besides, the mechanisms of hydrogen production from organic waste are not well documented. Furthermore, the enhancement of hydrogen yields through eco-friendly biological technology rather than traditional extensive greenhouse gasses (GHG) emissions is the most promising approach, especially for an industrial scale. This review intends to shift the paradigm from traditional hydrocarbon biofuels to sustainable green and biological hydrogen based on organic waste type; this will lead to hast the carbon neutrality targets.
