Objective The fully automatic operation(FAO)line based on traditional vehicle-ground communication technology faces problems such as insufficient capacity at peak time, complex and numerous system equipment, and wide range of fault impact, all need to be solved. Method A design scheme of FAO system based on autonomic perception and vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology is proposed. The architecture of the system and the functions of each subsystem are introduced, advantages of the system are analyzed. Result & Conclusion The above-mentioned FAO system adopts the safety protection model based on relative speed, further shortening the train chasing interval. Vehicle-to-vehicle communication combined with automatic perception technology further simplifies the system architecture and reduces the workload of operation and maintenance. The backup system with intelligent perception is constructed, it can ensure train operation safety under system failure and improve the operation resuming efficiency under failure. The system has completed on-site commissioning and testing with single and multiple trains in Beijing Metro Line 11 demonstration project, and obtained trial operation authorization.
