A carteira fatal – (Sobre)vivência do melodrama no interior do Brasil

Abstract

This paper analyzes the text of melodrama The fatal wallet presented in 1980 by members of Shalom Youth Group in the city of Antonio Gonçalves. First, the paper presents some characteristics of the melodramatic genre and points out the Catholic Church as responsible for its remaining in the second half of the twentieth century in Brazil’s countryside. It also presents a reflection about the regional irregularities in the historiography of Brazilian theater.
