Orbital TIG welding of X5CrNi18-10 austenitic stainless steel

Abstract

The article presents the welding technology of pipe joints made of austenitic stainless steel X5CrNi18-10 with dimensions: ø 50,8 x 1,5 mm, made by TIG orbital welding method without the use of additional material. The following tests were carried out: chemical composition tests, delta ferrite content tests, non-destructive testing of welded joints, visual tests together with the assessment of tinge from the root side and weld face (according to the Danish Institute of Life Technology 94.34 report and the American ASME BPE standard 2012), radiographic examinations, destructive tests of welded joints. The tests have shown that the pro- posed technology allows to obtain welded joints that meet the requirements for the qualification of welding technology.
