The objective of this paper is to determine the impact of Chinese investment flows on the growth rate of the 49 SSA countries over the period 2003 to 2017. To do this, we have tried to explain the dynamics of Chinese FDI in ASS by using in our modelling panel data estimation techniques (static and dynamic estimates). These techniques, in particular dynamic panels, allow a better appreciation of the nature of the relationship between the variables studied. The results show that Chinese FDI has a positive but very weak effect on the economic growth rate of the SSA countries. Indeed, it is very oriented towards the raw material extraction sectors (mining, wood and mining...) which create less local employment and do not allow real technology transfer, despite the creation of some joint ventures and joint ventures between Chinese companies and local firms in African countries.
