Abstract

This article aims to study the production of gendered bodies in a specific professional context, that of fitness. Thus, in adulthood, the work of shaping the anatomy reflects the joint effects of professional socialisation and previously acquired dispositions. For these men, fitness professionals, the necessary body adjustments, from a symbolic and economic point of view, participate in the renewal of the configurations of gender practices. Without really questioning the gender order, these complicit masculinities embodied by fitness professionals participate in the inflection of hegemonic masculinity.
